Trends & Choices concerning HPL’s.

The worldwide famous “Eurococcina 2008” held in Milan, Italy was visited
by Formiline and we noticed the following tendencies:

- Clean choices and 70’s influence

- Balconies, countertops and drawers with curves

- Gloss finish is the finish most used and it was found even inside drawers
in the most sophisticated projects exhibited

Our TIP: The use of Laminates with Gloss Finish is cheaper than glass, more resistant
than paint and easy to apply!

requested more and more and applied everywhere?

What are the differences between the Formiline HPL and the regular
LPM?

The differences go beyond the H & L letters!

-    Let’s start by the wear resistance: Formiline HPL can have up to 10 times more wear resistance than the LPM

-    Melamin Resin: Formiline HPL has its decorative paper and overlay impregnated with a 100% melamine resin while most of the LPM manufactures use a mix of urea and melamine. As a reminder: melamine resin’s main function is to increase resistance to moisture, scratch and wear.

-    Formiline HPL is compounded by several layers: overlay, decorative paper, impregnation of melamine resin, kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resin while LPM is just a decorative paper impregnated with a mix of urea and melamine resin

-    Finally the letters: H in HPL, means that the product layers were compacted through a High Pressure of approximately 100kgf/cm2 under the temperature of 145ºC for 60 minutes. While the L in LPM means Low Pressure that reaches a maximum of 30kgf/cm2 for approximately 1 minute.
